Sorry, San Francisco - the UC Botanical Garden is by far the best garden of its kind in the area. This is exactly what my own back yard would look like if I had the resources of Donald Trump along and the taste of Henry David Thoreau. This is a great place to walk, bring children, read, or just chill. Gorgeous.

Beautiful, Peaceful and quite, this botanical garden displays native plants not only of California, but other regions of the world as well, such as Africa, Asia, the Mediterranean and more! They have an arid greenhouse as well as one dedicated to carnivorous and orchid varieties. Secluded redwood grove is accessible during operating hours, a perfect picnic setting!
